After the disappointment of yesterday, watching a tree fall, so to speak, it has been just brilliant to spend a day today working with the leadership team at Christ the Sower and exploring a whole range of areas that will lead to good things for children in the future. We have been working with Ian Wigston from Glowinkowski International and Mark Bennison, principal of the Hazeley Academy, exploring, in some depth, our predispositions and attitudes within our leadership team (there are 5 of us). It is always good to hear colleagues appraise your strengths and behaviours (not everyone appreciates this, naturally) but the way that it has been done has been so affirmative and strengthening, as well as pretty revealing. It has just opened my eyes again to the richness and depth and value of the people I work with, and how blessed I am to be working alongside men and women of such quality.
Lots to discuss, and lots that will come out to parents and staff in the near future, but mostly we have discovered an amazing degree of unity and understanding about what our school really is about. The Christian foundation, the commitment to loving learning, the need for a vision and purpose to bring strength and resilience to our school community – all of these have been articulated over and over again. We started in the morning with a good thorough discussion on our vision as articulated by those men and women of prayer and faith who laid the Christian foundations for us, and then it has just grown, as we have, with Ian and Mark and their colleagues, looked again at the power of “Christ the Sower” as a name and as a calling. What makes for success? What actions flow from this? These are questions for later tonight and tomorrow.
I’ll be back! It is St David’s Day. Wales won last Saturday. Need to find a way to celebrate…..
