WhatiflearningJust a reference here to the What If Learning website, that is now up and running. I blogged on this over a year ago after hearing Margaret Cooling’s presentation on it, but for those looking to implement a sound and thorough Christian pedagogy that enables children to be confronted with teaching and questioning that challenges the secular and materialistic worldview our children usually inhabit, this website is a really great place to start. The approach is explained here and it bears studying and following the links.

At Spring Harvest this year was a guy who is intending to set up a Christian free school in a deprived neighbourhood where the schooling is not improving the lives of children. His pitch to the local community and LA was this – this is a society that badly needs the wisdom of Jesus and we want to try and teach that to children.

No comment on free schools at the moment, but the reasoning is sound – our communities badly need the wisdom of Jesus – I commend this resource to you as something that can start to bring the wisdom of Jesus in the way we think and plan our teaching.

About Huw Humphreys

I am a headteacher in the city of Milton Keynes, where I have been since April 2011, looking to make education effective for the whole child and keeping a distant relationship with the powers that be and their narrowing approach to education... but most of all I am looking to find out what it means to be both a follower of Jesus Christ and a passionate educator in the midst of an unsettled community. I am also a part time musician, part time linguist and lover of history and literature...committed both to freedom to learn and depth of learning for all our children. The views on this blog are all my own, and not in any way those of the school I lead!
